The Assistive Technology Laboratory of the Federal University of Uberlândia (NTA-UFU) is a multidisciplinary group of professors and students researchers of several areas from Engineering and Health. It dedicates to the research and development of rehabilitation and assistive technologies for supporting impaired, elderly or low mobility people. The NTA-UFU was established in 2014 after the approval of its project by Ministerial Order No. 39 of June 28, 2012, of the Secretariat of Science and Technology for Social Inclusion of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (SECIS / MCTI), which made public the results of the selected institutions to establish Assistive Technology Centers for compounding the brazilian network of research and development in assistive technology, in accordance with the guidelines established by the National Plan for the Rights of People with Disabilities - Living Without Limits Plan, established by Decree No. 7,612 / 2011. The national network of assistive technology centers is coordinated by the National Reference Center for Assistive Technology - CNRTA, based at the Renato Archer Information Technology Center (CTI) in Campinas, São Paulo (Brazil). The NTA-UFU is headed by Prof. Dr. Eduardo Lázaro Martins Naves.
